Finding a balance, the secret to living life well. It’s a good thing I enjoy exercise as much as I enjoy food! I love sweets, and Dad is always reminding me that I am undoing all of my hard work when I snack. I believe that life is meant to be lived so do what you love, but try to love some healthy things as well.
I love to run. The smell of the outdoors, the sound of my feet hitting the ground, my dog’s tail wagging beside me, and pushing myself physically, all make me feel so alive. It’s great for stress management and if you’re like me, it’s also a great way to keep anxiety and depression at bay. With 3 kiddos and practically no me time, I look forward to running on the weekends when Dad is home from work. Even though I may be exhausted from looking after the kids, that hour by myself sweating it out is sublime. In fact we usually fight over who gets to go for a run first!
I also love to do yoga. Also a great stress release and a huge part of how I survive motherhood. Luckily I can do yoga at home whenever, with the kids playing around me or if I’m lucky while they nap. I was never a very strong or flexible person, yoga has made me surprise myself in my capabilities. When Dad gets home from work he can tell by my happiness vs stress levels whether I have had time to do yoga that day. Doing yoga for an hour in the day makes a huge difference. I’m sure the kids also appreciate a happy mom!
I probably will never stop enjoying my sweet treats. I love to bake and I love to snack. I will try to always find a balance. We only have one life and you should do what you love. Exercise because you can, because you want to, because you want to be happy, and because it makes you feel less guilty when you sit down to enjoy your tea and cookies!
