First Veggie Out Of The Garden

Such an exciting day! I got to enjoy the first veggie from the garden, spinach. I love spinach because we usually get a tonne of it, it freezes well, I like to add it to everything and it’s always the first veggie to pick.

I had myself a cheese and spinach (heavy on the spinach) sandwich and it was delicious!

So far the garden is doing so awesome, I hope we don’t have extreme rains like last year that drowned out our raised garden beds and killed probably half of our plants. Our potatoes and corn are now starting to come up. Last year we had a problem with potato bugs but I was pretty diligent at getting rid of them so fingers crossed they don’t come back this year.  After a decade into this every year I still learn something new about gardening!

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog. Thanks for the tip on the spinach and cheese sandwiches. I’ve never thought of that combo before and it’s so healthy.
We don’t have a lot of luck growing things either. When the local radio station came here recently, I bought a bootload of plants to create an instant garden. One of the hosts is Julie Goodwin, Australia’s first Masterchef and she gave me a signed copy of her latest coookbook and a meal. Thought you might be interested to see the clip of their visit:

    1. Omg I pretty much learned how to cook because of master chef Australia , I’ve watched every season except this years, we usually download it and watch it in the summer, best cooking show ever. We have a master chef Canada too but it’s not nearly as impressive! I remember Julie – I so wanted her to win!
